Nerve Removal (Pulpectomy)
Nerve removal is performed when the dental pulp (nerve and inner tissues of the tooth) is damaged by advanced caries, infection, or trauma. The goal is to eliminate the damaged pulp, disinfect the canal, and preserve the natural tooth.
How is the procedure performed
- Diagnosis and evaluation - X-rays or 3D imaging are used to analyze the condition of the nerve and canals.
- Tooth opening - Access to the pulp is created and damaged tissue is removed.
- Canal disinfection - Thorough cleaning and disinfection of canals is performed to eliminate bacteria.
- Canal filling - A biocompatible material is placed in the canals to prevent reinfection.
- Tooth restoration - The tooth is restored with filling, veneer, or crown, as needed, to restore function and strength.
